Our cremation ashes jewellery is the world’s first to bond cremation ashes with REAL gemstones. A more beautiful, durable and affordable alternative to glass or resin and its better for the planet too.
Artemis is a bespoke fine jewellery manufacturer in the picturesque historical town of Newark-on-Trent in the UK. Working from our design studio, our team of three have over 50 years of jewellery design and making experience between them. Up until 2016, we were exclusively making bespoke engagement rings, wedding rings and dress jewellery for clients all over the world. Then an accident and a personal loss changed everything for us …
The ASH-GEM was created by Artemis in our UK studio because we had a loss of our own and we wanted a beautiful piece of jewellery to remember our lost loved one. Vanessa Anthony, our creative director explains why.
I recently lost a beloved member of my family and, after a time, it occured to me that I needed to combine my memories of my treasured Jack with something I could keep with me during the day and beside me at night so it would be the first thing I saw when I awoke.
I looked all over the internet for something that I would like, but I could find nothing but glass or resin jewellery containing ashes or receptacles for the ashes such as small urns to lockets on a chain. As I found those uninspiring, I though to myself “I’m a jeweller, why don’t I just make something myself”. I soon discovered it wasn’t that easy, and that’s probably why the choices for keepsake cremation ashes jewellery are so limited.
After months of thought and failed experiment (and a few successes) I finally came up with the concept: a well designed piece of jewellery in silver, gold or platinum which encases treasured ashes bonded to a layer of finest natural rock crystal. I also found I could tint ashes with mineral colour pigments, and finally I saw something I loved. I call it the “Ash-Gem”. The picture shows Jack’s ashes made into an Ash-Gem Eternity pendant in silver.
I also discovered our method worked for other gemstones as well like sapphire and moonstone, and certain metals too so we can partially or totally obscure the ashes if we want to for a more locket style feel.
I wanted to share my discovery with everyone who knew the pain of loss and would be, as I had been, comforted by wearing a well designed, affordable piece of jewellery containing a most precious cargo close to their heart.”
It didn’t take long for us to design several pieces for a range of jewellery in our studio at Artemis in Nottinghamshire that could include the Ash-Gem. These consist of necklaces, pendants, rings, earrings, cufflinks and charms and they are available to buy from our website Artemis Cremation Ashes Jewellery
